Edge of Darkness

The LeRoy Neiman Gallery at Columbia University's School of the Arts proudly presents Edge of Darkness, a group exhibition. When Icelandic poet and philosopher, Gunner Dal, gazes into the long and dark winter nights, rather than the sky's foreboding blackness, he instead sees complex and multiple hues of gray.

In this exhibition of drawings and works on paper, each artist partakes in a journey that reveals the underside of daily reality, and unfurls a multifarious place, which exists in both body and soul. In contrast to daily grinding rituals, these artists' works hinge their nocturnal realities upon visual forms that are neither specific nor concrete. In the context of today's bipolar political and social climate, they reveal a place of uncertainty akin to staring into the night---Naked and Alone.
