press release

Ellen Munro works with a wide variety of materials including fabric, threads, paint and coloured lights and has created a new site-specific work for the round room at Talbot Rice Gallery. Ellen Munro is currently completing her master degree at Edinburgh College of Art.

I make work relating to memories or stories I've been told. I like to sew and embroider and make crafty things and then make them a bit punny….. Most of my ideas develop from these memories and experiences and often contain materials or objects that I have treasured for some time. I often work with everyday objects and with these, attempt to re-contextualise them to create an object of the extraordinary. Ellen Munro, 2003
