La maison rouge proposes the first solo show of Eugen Gabritschevsky, Russian genetician and artist.

This exclusive exhibition will gather 250 art works, gouaches and drawings on paper, most of which will be shown for the first time in Paris. Gabritschevsky vertiginous and fascinating art has been discovered by Jean Dubuffet, the French painter, creator of the concept of Art Brut. Most of Gabritschevsky' s works have been produced during the almost 50 years spent at Haar-Eflingen psychiatric hospital, near Munich. No longer occupied by scientific research, it was as though Gabritschevsky had freed his mind to produce an abundant body of work, created in silence and solitude.

A catalogue published by Snoeck publishers, will present recent studies of this rich body of work, accompanied by numerous illustrations.

The exhibition is co-produced by the three institutions that will take turns to host it: la maison rouge in Paris, the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne (November 2016 to February 2017) and finally the Folk Art Museum in New York (March to August 2017).
