press release

The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art, renews their partnership with Artspace.com, the leading online marketplace for contemporary art. The online platform enables art lovers throughout the world to preview and participate in EXPO CHICAGO, which opens the international fall art season Sept. 19 - 22 at Navy Pier. Artspace will expand EXPO’s audience by reaching a growing base of over 200,000 collectors and its vast network of museum trustees, directors and curators from around the world.

“EXPO CHICAGO proved to be a major player in the international contemporary art scene in its first year,” said Artspace Co-Founder and Chairman Christopher E. Vroom. “We look forward to partnering again in 2013 to elevate global exposure for the fair’s outstanding exhibitors and programming.”

Assembling a curated selection of 120 leading international contemporary and modern art galleries, EXPO CHICAGO provides collectors and art enthusiasts access to the top international art galleries with an unparalleled exhibition of works. Through the partnership with Artspace, EXPO CHICAGO is broadening this interaction beyond the walls of the fair. Artspace.com is changing the way the world experiences art, providing an online showcase of the galleries’ work leading up to and during EXPO CHICAGO. The website allows collectors first access to preview, browse and inquire about available works showcased by EXPO’s prominent roster of galleries, facilitating acquisitions at the fair.

Hand-picked international curators will select and highlight their favorite works displayed at EXPO to write about on the Artspace website which now includes editorial by top art writers including former Editor of Artnet Magazine, Walter Robinson. This content supports Artspace’s mission to educate and engage new collectors about art, acting as an art advisor to those beginning new collections.

In addition to virtually building EXPO’s outreach, Artspace will exhibit at the exposition as well, showing editions for purchase from many of its 100 partners including non-profits and cultural institutions such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Brooklyn Museum, ICA Boston, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, among others.

“We are extremely proud to renew and build upon our partnership with Artspace," said President and Director of EXPO CHICAGO Tony Karman. “Artspace is leading and redefining the online marketplace for contemporary art. We are extremely grateful for the innovative opportunities that they are providing to our exhibitors and for their influential outreach to arts patrons worldwide.”
