press release

Flight Patterns explores landscape representation through the work of 23 artists working in the Pacific Rim, where issues of landscape, urbanism, and the relationship of cities to the land have impacted the region. Included are works by Laurence Aberhart, Doug Aitken, Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI), Miles Coolidge, Caryl Davis, Christina Fernandez, Simryn Gill, Rodney Graham, Anthony Hernandez, Gavin Hipkins, Igloolik Isuma Productions, Tim Johnson, Rachel Khedoori, Roy Kiyooka, David Lamelas, Simon Leung, Tracey Moffatt, Lee Mullican, Paul Outerbridge, Michael Parekowhai, Allan Sekula, Yuk King Tan, and Glen Wilson.

Although the exhibition focuses primarily on Los Angeles- and California-based artists, it also includes work by artists from Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, which address the topography and experiences of the landscape of this region. The exhibition includes new projects; work from the 1990s; and historically significant photographs, videos, film, and paintings.
