press release

This group exhibition will feature work by artists investigating new approaches to questions of landscape and to topography more generally. The work included in will range from sculpture and video to installation and works on paper. Characteristic of all the work is a certain distance-both conceptual and visual-from the particular places presented.

Artists in the exhibition explore the contemporary landscape from various perspectives: from the scientific and ecological to the experiential and transcendent. While acknowledging an increasing distance from an unmediated experience of nature, work in the exhibition explores the strangely powerful and often ineffable force that the natural environment continues to hold for an increasingly urban and suburban population.

Artists included in the exhibition are Doug Aitken, David Akiba, Michael Ashkin, Jonathan Callan, Peter Doig, Sharles and Ray Eames, Arturo Herrera, Koo Jeong-a, Roxy Paine, Kathy Prendergast, Michael Raedecker, Yukata Sone and Daphne Wright.
