press release

Gábor Bódy (1946–1985) would have been sixty in 2006. To mark this anniversary the Ludwig Múzeum is organising a retrospective commemorative exhibition which will be accompanied by an international symposium and homage installations.

Gábor Bódy exerted an important influence on the visual mode of expression of contemporary fine and photographic art with his experimental films and theoretical writings. He was the Hungarian pioneer of artistic video and creator of the first international video magazine, INFERMENTAL. Not only will his major films be seen but also his early works, his experimental and television pieces as well as videos. It is hoped that the first volume of his collected writings on film art, to be published during the 2006 Book Week, will also be launched here.
