press release

Georgia O'Keeffe's singular approach to abstraction was fueled by creative currents in early 20th-century art and culture. This exhibition will feature over 70 paintings, drawings, and watercolors by O'Keeffe as well as a selection of close-up photographic portraits of O'Keeffe by Alfred Stieglitz. It will focus exclusively on the origins and range of the artist's abstractions over the course of her career, as she developed an abstract vocabulary unlike that of any of her contemporaries. This exhibition is organized by The Phillips Collection, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.
