press release

Hannah Weinberger films and records sounds from her travels. The settings are non-places like airports, train stations, city centers and zoo facilities. The image and sound-planes of her multi-media works stem from these archives. What interests the artist are the non-linear relationships between images, memory and time in a medialized society. The exhibition shows video and sound work specially developed for the Kunstverein Braunschweig as well as a performance carried out through the duration of the exhibition. Over the course of the exhibition, the Remise turns into an immersive space and an acoustic backdrop, in which the front courtyard becomes a platform for (street) musicians from Braunschweig.

Hannah Weinberger (*1988) lives and works in Basel. In 2013 she completed her studies at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at the Badischer Kunstverein (2016), at the Kunstverein Hamburger Bahnhof, Hamburg (2015), at the Kunsthaus Bregenz (2014), at the Kunsthalle Basel (2012) and at the Swiss Institute, New York (2012), among others. Hannah Weinberger has been teaching at the Institut Kunst in Basel since 2016.
