The main event of Kaliningrad art-life of this autumn is the IX Biennial of Graphic Art of the Baltic States “Kaliningrad-Koenigsberg 2008” in Kaliningrad Art Gallery. The slogan of the IX Biennial is “Space of topicality – European context”. The project will be held under the aegis of the International Committee “Ars Baltica”, it was supported by Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation, art institutions of countries-participants, Nordic Culture Fund (Denmark) and Ministry of Culture of Kaliningrad region. New exposition will be placed in all exhibit halls of the Gallery on a space that is more than 3000 sq.m. There will be shown artworks of well-known graphic artists of Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Among the guest of the Biennial there will be artists, art-critics of the Baltic States. The members of the International Jury and Curators are specialists of Graphic Art from State Russian Museum, Kumu Art Museum (Estonia), Tallin Graphic Triennale (Estonia), Krakow Graphic Triennale (Poland), Swedish Graphic House, Lithuanian Institute, Latvian Art Academy etc. The main exposition will be lead by three parallel exhibitions: personal exhibition of Grand-Prix the VIII Biennial Malwina Niespodziawana (Poland), exhibition of Lowis Corinth’s graphic and interactive multimedia installation “Game-room” that will be presented by the Kaliningrad branch on the National Center of Contemporary Arts. International Jury will choose the winners of Grand-Prix, three prizes and laureates of the IX Biennial of Graphic Art. Also there will be presented special prizes. Exhibition will be accompanied by bilingual catalogue and International conference about problems of Contemporary art “Topicality and up-to-dateness in Graphic Art of the beginning of the XXI century” that will take place at 16 September in Kaliningrad Art Gallery.
