THURSDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2016 : NEW PERFORMANCE

“An attempt to not beat the world hour record set by Eddy Merckx in Mexico City in 1972 (or how to remain a dwarf in a land of giants)”, created for Lyon at the Parc de la Tête d’Or velodrome, with commentary and live filming, in the presence of Eddy Merckx.

Jan Fabre pays tribute to the Belgian cyclist. The artist grabs the handlebars and thrusts his feet into the toe clips in an attempt not to beat the world record set in Mexico City in 1972. In a salute to the talent of the man they called “The Cannibal” because of his insatiable hunger after victories, Jan Fabre allows himself to be caught up and swallowed by the beauty of failure.
