From Drawing to Painting to Drawing ... Jonathan Lasker is today one of the most interesting and acclaimed painters in the US. In the last few years his paintings have been shown in several major retrospective exhibitions that have toured internationally. Kunsthallen Brandts Klædefabrik has been given the opportunity to present a large selection of not previously exhibited, large black-and-white drawings in coal, acrylic, ball point pen and pencil, as well as a series of drawings in colour crayon and a small selection of paintings. The selection and display of these drawings and paintings reflect Jonathan Lasker’s way of working, marked by an ongoing dialogue between different forms of expression. Strange and fascinating, his large abstract images integrate and contrast formal pictorial elements with existential human questions.
