press release

The work of Josephine Pryde, who currently divides her time between London and Berlin, encompasses photography, drawing, installation and performance, and engages with the symbiotic relationship of art, media and commerce.

Recent photographs, for example, explore the function of photography as a transformer of things into commodities. At once alluring and enigmatic, these images evince a deep, if tacit, scepticism about the current conditions of art making.

The paintings and drawings of Katharina Wulff tell mysterious stories involving blank-faced women with anachronistic clothes and striking hairdos who lounge around in breezy rooms filled with patterns composed of animals, birds and plants. Playfully referring to earlier styles such as Rococo or Viennese art nouveau, Wulff creates works of optical seduction that are shaped by a curious mix of emptiness and excess.
