Judy Chicago in Glass

Judy Chicago in Glass will be in the Art Museum's Upper Gallery during Women's History Month and offers a look at the artist's latest series of portrait busts cast in solid glass, stainless steel, and bronze. Her recent work includes solid cast glass forearms and fists, outstretched hands and clasped hands. The exhibition will include 30 of her most recent never-before-seen works that challenge and redefine issues of gender, history, and artistic media.

Chicago is on of the most influential artists of our time. She has created a body of work addressing the mysteries of birth, female sexuality, the iconography of male power, and the Holocaust. One of Chicago's most well known pieces is The Dinner Party, an installation which tells the story of 1,038 women artists and scholars who, until recently were not included in the history books. The Dinner Party is now permanently housed at the Brooklyn Museum in New York as part of the Elizabeth Sackler Center for Feminist Art.
