Ribbons, looms and 18th century Dutch darning samplers are the starting points for small wares, the first European solo exhibition by Katie Schwab (* 1985). 'Small wares' is the trade term for narrow textiles used for reinforcing seams and preventing fabrics from unravelling. These unassuming articles are referenced in a new body of work examining repair and restoration within textiles and civic architecture.
