Kevin Reid - Ring of Fire

In this video, under the guise of his alter ego Harry Butler, Reid makes ‘death-defying’ leaps on a BMX bike through a blazing hoop. Dressed in an outlandish costume, he evokes admiration and pity, sympathy and ridicule. A contrived innocence informs a voice-over commentary and the artist himself refers to the origins of his performance art in his childhood...
