A presentation of the poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti (1919, New York) and his magazine 'City Lights’.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti was an important voice in the wide-open poetry of the Beatnik Generation. Ferlinghetti wrote poetry, fiction, theatre, art criticism, films and essays while he was also involved in the art of painting. The concern with political and social themes is still his starting point to redefine the role of art and the artist in the world. The City Lights publishing house evolved from his City Lights book shop in San Francisco, which was a famous meeting place for writers, artists and intellectuals.
