press release

(Miami, FL, November 10, 2007) Locust Projects will conclude the electrifying 2007 season by bringing together three artists, from three continents, presenting three original exhibitions: L/B: Pocket Stadium; Get Lost; and, Ed Young: I Love New Work. In their first exhibition in Miami, the Swiss-based duo known as L/B, Sabine Lang and Daniel Baumann, will debut Pocket Stadium, a site-specific sculptural installation. L/B constructs environments incorporating functionality, architecture, and art to make interiors and objects that interact with the participant, while subverting the utilitarian nature of space planning. Get Lost, curated by Canada born Mark Clintberg, is a compilation of recent single channel video art by young Canadian artists anchored by the artists’ collective exploration of wandering and romanticism. I Love New Work will be the first site-specific Locust Projects mural project of South African born artist Ed Young. Young investigates the idea that the structure of the art world has superseded the art object itself.

Locust Projects will host an opening reception of L/B: Pocket Satdium; Get Lost; and, Ed Young: I Love New Work on Saturday, November 10, 2007, 7-11 p.m. and Saturday, December 8, 2007 in conjunction with the Wynwood Art District Walk at Locust Projects [105 N.W. 23rd Street]. All exhibitions will be on view to the public through December 31, 2007. Locust Projects hours are Thursday through Saturday from noon to 5:00 p.m.

In their first exhibition in Miami, the Swiss-based duo known as L/B, Sabine Lang and Daniel Baumann, will debut Pocket Stadium, a site-specific sculptural installation. Sabine Lang, born in Bern, Switzerland, and Daniel Baumann, born in San Francisco, California have been collaborating since 1995, and have exhibited extensively in Europe and Africa. L/B constructs environments incorporating functionality, architecture, and art to make interiors and objects that interact with the participant, while subverting the utilitarian nature of space planning. The futuristic environments of L/B’s ultramodern structural design are highlighted by the slick and painstakingly pristine finishes. Clean organic lines, bold color choices, and audacious lighting create a hyper-real otherworldly experience.
