Louise Nevelson: Selections from the Farnsworth Art Museum

A survey exhibition drawn from the museum's significant collection of works by Louise Nevelson. Nevelson, who has been called "the doyenne of American sculpture," was raised in Rockland, Maine, from age six until her marriage to Charles Nevelson, a cargo ship owner, in 1920. Included in the selection are rarely seen early paintings, drawings and sculpture, as well as examples of her more familiar mature style, such as "Dawn Column I," from "Dawn's Wedding Feast," "The Endless Column" and works from the "Volcanic Magic" series.
