press release

After Bacon, Giacometti and Picasso, the Borghese Gallery dedicates an exhibition to Lucio Fontana from 22 May to 28 July 2019.
Spatial concepts in gold and the ceramic crucifixions will be the specific object of the exhibition.
Approximately 50 works will be presented including gold oil paintings and ceramics, mainly produced in the fifties and sixties.
The exhibition is part of the research program that the Museum has been conducting for years on the exceptional nature of a highly significant place as a combined identity of collection and space that surrounds it.
The inclusion of Fontana's works within the collection, in particular between the paintings of the Renaissance and the Baroque, will help to highlight the constant relevance of a crucial problem in the pictorial research of every time: the concept of "space", its definition, the anxious search for its representation.
