About gardens

I got interested in the cultural history of gardens in the 1980’s and started reading about the subject. Ten years later I developed an idea about «Poem Garden» as a combination of different garden traditions.

In this garden I would take the four rivers of Paradise from the Persian garden, the poem hut from the Chinese one, the garden table with its water bowls from the Renaissance, and a lotus bowl from Spanish gardens. And what ever beautiful I could come up with: stones with poems written on them and placed underneath water surface, poems on glass walls, poems carved on trees, cherry blossoms, apple blossoms and crocuses in spring.

This is the insolence of an older woman, a decision to say the inappropriate: I love beauty, and the more I surround myself with it the better.

In these brutal times when all communication is aimed at satisfying man’s lower instincts, I want to follow Chinese artists and make a picture where I can step inside and disappear. I want to live in the universe, which has its own laws, long enough to gain my balance back.
