Malmo Artmuseum is pleased to present the first Open Studio in cooperation with IASPIS (International Artists Program in Sweden). Mary Beth Edelson is producing new art works in Gallery F which has been converted into a studio for her six months residency. A selection of this new work will be included in her exhibition "A Well Lived Life - a retrospective with new works" at Malmo Artmuseum in the Main galleries from May 21 to August 31, 2006.

The artist Mary Beth Edelson lives and works in New York City. Her artwork is rooted in feminism, political activism, collaboration, and public participation. Edelsons art production consists of a hybrid of diverse mediums including; photo based work, painting, sculpture, drawing, performance, silk screen, artists´ books, posters, fabric works, collages, story-gathering boxes, video and installation. The selection of materials and production methods are determined by what is appropriate for that project.

Edelson´s recent work centers on providing social space as a platform for art making including: performance installations, sculpture, critical forums, activist interventions and contemplation that has grown from workshops that Edelson presents and are in collaboration with the participants.
