Maslen & Mehra

London based Australian/British artist team Tim Maslen and Jennifer Mehra return to Australia after wide international acclaim and have their first solo show with CDG during Art Month Sydney 2012. Maslen & Mehra allow us to experience a city, which is quiet and still - a place, which subsequently can sustain the existence of species other than ourselves. The imagery seeks to engage with the viewer and instill in them a desire to witness a more balanced and equitable existence on earth.

Heavily built-up urban landscapes are photographed in the early hours, re-introducing native species into the picture in the form of mirrored sculptures. Roe Deer graze in Canary Wharf, London, an Eagle takes flight in Times Square, New York. By placing urban people into wide-open spaces, Maslen & Mehra forge an unusual synthesis at first sight. The result of these forced symbioses raise issues of the human existence and alludes to the impermanence and fragility of mankind.

Maslen & Mehra's works are held in several important international public and private collections, such as Tattinger Collection-Switzerland, Nevada Museum of Art-Reno, Frissiras Museum-Athens, Art Es Collection-Madrid, Sth Australian Museum-Adelaide, Art Gallery of WA-Perth, Nature Art Museum-Sth Korea and more.
