press release

Matt Mullican is one of the foremost artists of the Pictures Generation. At John Baldessari’s “Post-Studio Art” class at CalArts, he first developed charts that delineate perception through ordered sign systems. Mullican’s various drawings, paintings, performances, video and print works create cosmic analogies of how the mind symbolically perceives and delineates representations of the world. Internationally known, Mullican has been exhibiting since the 1970s at venues including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in LA, the Dallas Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum, the Fabric Workshop in Philadelphia, the Haus der Kunst in Munich and the National Galerie in Berlin, among many others.

Mullican is represented by Peter Freeman, Inc., New York and Paris.
