Michael Schuster DROMBEG

Die Arbeit DROMBEG bildet den Anfang eines neuen Werkabschnittes von Michael Schuster und geht auf Ergebnisse einer Irland-Reise zurück. Wie in allen Projekten Schusters werden die technischen Gegebenheiten, das Werkzeug und sein Funktionieren (hier: des Fotoapparates) zum Gegenstand der "Betrachtung". Sie bilden den konzeptuellen Ausgangspunkt für die Arbeit als Prozess und werden im Ergebnis der Arbeit, dem Werk, mit abgebildet. Der mittels fotografischer Technik aufgezeichnete Wirklichkeitsausschnitt, das Bild, und seine Rück-Übersetzung in ein Ausstellungsobjekt, sind demnach als ästhetisches Resultat von den technischen Gegebenheiten mit bedingt. Für DROMBEG sind die Gegebenheiten die folgenden: Die Roundshot-Kamera, ihre technischen Dispositive, deren Anwendung und der Ausstellungsraum.

DROMBEG marks the start of a new phase in the work of Michael Schuster and goes back to the results of a trip to Ireland. As in all of Schuster’s projects, the technical conditions, the tool and its functioning (in this case of the camera), are the object of "observation". Forming the conceptual point of departure for the work as a process, they equally feature in the result of the work. As an aesthetic result, the excerpt of reality recorded using photography, the picture, and its back-translation into an exhibition object, are therefore also determined by the technical conditions. These conditions for DROMBEG being: the Roundshot camera, its technical dispositifs and their application, the exhibition space.
