press release

The exposed artworks are in line with gallery’s tradition of showing contemporary paintings: only exception being ‘’Leda and the Swan’’ (2007) – marble sculpture on a round mirror interlaced with video and sound installation by Mat Collishaw (born in 1966, Nottingham, GB, lives in London). Karl Horst Hoedicke (born in 1937, Nürnberg, D, lives in Berlin) whose work is characterized by bright colours, creates dialogue with impulsivity of Hermann Nitsch’s (born in 1938, Wien, A, lives in Prinzendorf) painting that was created during a performance that marked the opening of the Gallery. Another austrian artist, Maja Vukoje (born in 1969, Düsseldorf, D, lives in Wien), amazes us with her work that deals with childhood memories. Rainer Fetting (born in 1949, Wilhelmshaven, D, lives between Berlin and New York) is one of the artists that belonged to ‘‘Neuen Wilden’’ movement in the ‘80s. His painting in this exhibition displays his further development. Martin Disler’s (1949-1996, born in Seewen, CH, died in Geneva) instinctive painting connects well with Hannah Dougherty (born in 1980, Philadelphia, USA, lives in Berlin) who, using different materials invites the visitor to her joyful world. Asian representative, figurative artist Seo (born in 1977, Kwang-Ju (South Korea), lives in Berlin), demonstrates unique style of ‘’painted collage’’ .

Such a variety of international artists made us compelled to include Italian artists from different generations. Our choice fell on Piero Pizzi Cannella (born in 1955, Rocca di Papa, IT, lives in Rome) with a triptych and Pierluigi Pusole (born in 1963, Turin, IT, where he lives) who is one of the major artists of the following generation. In the end, there is an omage to Mimmo Rotella (born in 1918, Catanzaro, IT, died in 2006, Milan, IT) who has recently been honoured with a retrospective in Palazzo Reale in Milano.
