Paris 1900 takes visitors to the heart of the City of Light in the early 20th century. The exhibition explores the different social conditions in Paris in the 1900s through two main themes: Paris of the well-heeled, with artists depicting the sumptuousness and luxury of the bourgeois lifestyle in which the city played an instrumental role, and Paris of the people, in which painters, engravers and photographers portray another social reality in more naturalistic terms. Some 130 works have been selected from the richest collections of the Petit Palais, Paris’ fine arts museum. The exhibition is multidisciplinary, featuring canvases, sculptures, watercolours, engravings, photographs and decorative art objects. The launching of Paris 1900 will kick off the special events organized by the Musée for the celebrations marking Québec City’s 400th anniversary.

Québec City is this international exhibition’s only North American showing!

The exhibition is organized by the Petit Palais, Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris, in conjunction with the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
