Peter Friedl (Oberneukirchen, Austria, 1960), is an art critic, writer, artist and designer. He lives and works in Berlin.

The exhibition in sala rekalde will present two of his most recent films and several series of photographs, as well as the première showing of a new film made for the occasion. Titled Bilbao Song, his latest production takes as a reference the title of the poem by Bertolt Brecht, with music by Kurt Weill, which is also employed as a soundtrack.

The work of Peter Friedl explores the conditions and the genres of representation and has been shown, amongst other places, at Documenta X (1997) and Documenta XII (2007), the 48th edition of the Venice Biennial (1999), the 3rd edition of the Berlin Biennial (2004) and the 2nd International Biennial of Art in Seville (2006).

In 2006 the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) organised a complete retrospective and in 2008 this Austrian artist was nominated for the prestigious Vincent Award, accompanied by an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
