Chain mail is re-invented to share art throughout Chicago and beyond. Performance artist Philip von Zweck transforms the gallery into a mail center with a work of art that he created as a chain letter. Von Zweck acts as postmaster and mails the letters in the hopes that the recipients will continue the chain. He frees art from the confines of a gallery, allowing people to see his art firsthand without even entering the exhibition space.
The exhibition opens at First Fridays on October 5. Butler performs and leads a gallery talk on Tuesday, October 16, at 6:30 pm.
