Pierre et Gilles

This French duo single-mindedly pursues the depiction of beauty, filtered through a camp, gay sensibility. Their highly crafted, sumptuous images have been distributed primarily through posters, books, calendars and music videos. Over 50 photographic images have been gathered for this show, representing the span of Pierre et Gilles' work from their pop portraits of the late 70s through their more melancholy themes of recent years. The first American Pierre et Gilles retrospective, this exhibition was organized by the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, and is accompanied by a catalog. Pressetext
