Coming off his first major museum exhibition, eponymously titled, at FRAC Auvergne in the Spring of 2016, Fox presents “Inside A Palm Field”, Pablo’s Birthday’s second solo exhibition of the German painter in New York. Encompassing both floors of the gallery, this expansive exhibition features works in various mediums including paintings on canvas, paintings on glass, works on paper, and photographs.

Without reading as objectively tied to reality by way of representation, these layered abstract compositions and colors none the less imbue a perception of space and light in their surfaces that feels informed by observation - as if they are several steps removed from the real yet still participating with it.

“So, what is the reality of this enclosed incident, what is being framed, what is behind the door, behind the window, what is happening on the surface?
What do the found and the invented reality in a room tell me?
It is what I am not able to grasp linguistically, surrounded by the burden of the visible and the dissatisfaction of the invisible. It is what paved its way just like that, through color.”
