Retromorphosis is a group exhibition of work by artists addressing the modernist architectural legacy of the German Democratic Republic. The exhibition, dealing with the legacy of modernist urban planning and current proposals for large scale town centre redevelopment will address themes in art and architecture familiar to a British audience.

Retromorphosis includes work in a variety of media by artists from the UK as well as from Germany. Dan Wilkinson (UK) Toby Paterson (UK), Anne Pöhlmann, Thomas Neumann (both Germany) Oliver Elser and Lotte Lyon (Austria). Work will include 2D, 3D and video pieces inspired by or made in response to the particular circumstances of Prager Strasse in Dresden.

In dealing with the legacy of modernist urban planning and current proposals for large-scale town centre redevelopment, Retromorphosis addresses themes in art and architecture familiar to a British audience.

Toby Paterson and Dan Wilkinson from the UK, Anne Pöhlmann and Thomas Neumann from Germany, and Oliver Elser and Lotte Lyon from Austria have made works in a variety of media, including video, photographs and 3-D architectural models.

This exhibition is curated by Cordula Zeider and was exhibited at Fermynwoods Contemporary Art gallery as part of Architecture week 2006. The Retromorphosis exhibition is supported by Arts Council England and Fermynwoods Gallery.
