Romare Bearden

A long-awaited retrospective of the work of Romare Bearden, including watercolors, prints, tapestries and book illustrations as well as the vibrant collages and photomontages for which he is best known. Bearden called upon his fellow African-American artists to create art based on their own unique experiences; his visual narrative takes us from the rural South to Pittsburgh, from Harlem to the Caribbean island of St. Maarten.
