press release

The Agency is proud to present the renowned Scottish artist Ross Sinclair with new and recent sculptural works. The series of wall mounted and freestanding sculptures is entitled REAL LIFE ROCK OPERA. The group of works are an assemblage of musical instruments, wooden blocks, deer skulls and figurative paintings with red neon slogans that have become the recognizable brand of the Scottish artist.

Sinclair has been a champion of Nineties installation art. His large public sculptures made of wooden structures with colourful neons and painted objects under his ubiquitous slogan REAL LIFE have been shown internationally for the past nine years and this is continuing with his current room filling installation at the Villa Arson in Nice.

REAL LIFE ROCK OPERA contains beautiful references to art history combined with Rock paraphanelia, an approach that has earned him a place in Stop Stop, the definitive guide on of New Scottish Sculpture. Coupled with a new monograph on his work to date and the inclusion of his large-scale work in two public collections this year, GOMA and Wolverhampton, Sinclair's work is continuing to surprise with elegant and witty references to popculture.
