Samara Scott

Samara Scott’s sculptural art works appeal directly to the intense visual literacy of the digital age. She draws her influences from what she describes as ‘urban spirituality’, and her use of texture is lifted directly from daily life. The work Still Life (2013), a roll of brightly painted toilet paper, gestures towards the fragile and disposable nature of supermarket commodities. Reflecting the unapologetic artifice of corporate promotion, her garish use of colour and synthetic materials is outlandish but alluring. In a world increasingly invested with hyperreality, Scott seeks to reignite our tactile senses whilst remaining true to the materiality of everyday experience.

This solo presentation will present newly commissioned work alongside Scott's works already featured in the Collection.

Throughout the summer the Collection will present a series of four solo presentations by Adriano Costa, Michael E. Smith, Sam Falls and Samara Scott. Each artist will make new commissions to show alongside their works which already feature in the Collection.
