press release

Sculpture on Site brings the artist's studio into the museum's spaces. Over the next five months, sculptors Dorit Cypis, Robert Fischer, and Chris Larson will make new work in Gallery A and allow us to share in their creative methods. This exhibition seeks to enhance awareness of the art-making process and collapse traditional barriers between the artist, the museum, and the audience. The work site, which will be open to and viewable by the public whenever possible, may expand our collective understanding of both sculptural practice and the function of art in society. -- Jenelle Porter, Exhibition Curator

This exhibition is part of 100 Years of Sculpture: From the Pedestal to the Pixel (February 21 May 24, 1998). Sculpture on Site is made possible by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts.
