The Kaheon SINDOH Foundation (Suk-Hyung Woo, chief director) is pleased to announce that the 1st SINAP (SINDOH Artist Support Program) was successfully held, selecting three group of artists, Kyungwon Moon & Joonho Jeon, Yeesookyung, and Inhwan Oh. This year, the SINAP was created following the efforts and passion of SINDOH in art led to active promotion of Korean artists' big projects with the ultimate goal of opening up an environment for Korean artists to be given their creativity wider in the global arena. Every year, a selected panel of judges—an international judge and a Korean judge- researches and reviews Korean artists who are planning significant international projects for over three months and then jury has face-to-face interviews with the selected candidates in Korea. As the 1st SINAP jury, Hans Ulrich Obrist who is a co-director of Serpentine Gallery London and Dongyeon Koh working actively as a critic and curator were chosen and they selected the three promising group of artists after reviewing the artists for over three months. The interviews took place on November 13 with 14 candidates and the winners are like this: 1. Kyungwon Moon & Joonho Jeon 2. Yeesookyung 3. Inhwan Oh

The ceremony of awarding the selected artists was held on November 14 in Korea. The winners were revealed during the ceremony and the first SINAP artists—Inhwan Oh, Yeesookyung, and Kyungwon Moon & Joonho Jeon—and Hans Ulrich Obrist and Dongyeon Koh as the first SINAP jury participated in the ceremony and shared the future-oriented goals and wishes for the Korean art. The support fund, awarded each year to an artist for his or her ongoing or planned significant international projects, rewards a support fund of KRW 15,000,000 for the projects.

The 1st SINAP artists 1. Kyungwon Moon & Joonho Jeon MOON (b. 1969) received her Ph.D on Visual Communication at Yonsei University and M.F.A on Art/ Intergrated Media from California Institute of the Arts. Some of MOON's selected solo exhibitions include Green House at Gallery HYUNDAI, Seoul (2010) and Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Fukuoka (2004). She has also participated in several group shows including A Silent Voice at Tokyo Wonder Site, Sibuya, Japan (2010); A Different Similarity, Bochum, Germany (2010); Istanbul, Turkey (2009); Now Jump at Nam June Paik Art Center, Yongin, Korea(2008). Furthermore, MOON collaborated with Tadao Ando for a public art project at Genius Loci in Seopjikoji, Cheju Island, Korea (2007); Media Canvas at Seoul Square, Seoul(2010).

JEON (b.1969) received his M.F.A at Chelsea College of Art and Design, and B.F.A from Dong-Eui University. JEON has had several solo exhibitions at SCAI The Bathhouse in Tokyo(2009); Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris(2008); Arario Gallery in Cheonan, Korea (2008); and at Perry Rubenstein in NewYork (2007). JEON has also participated in several group exhibitions including Your Bright Future at LACMA(2009); Metamorphosis at The Museum of Fine Art, Houston in Houston, Texas (2008); and All About Laughter at Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (2007); and at L' Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton. 2. Yeesookyung Yeesookyung (b. 1963) graduated from Seoul National University with BFA and MFA in Painting in 1989. After the graduation, the artist participated in residency programs in New York, France, and Korea. She had her first solo show titled Getting Married to Myself at Indeco Gallery in Seoul and K Gallery in Tokyo in 1992. Since than, she participated in various internationally well known art festivals like Liverpool Biennale in UK, Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale in Japan, Busan Biennale and Gwangju Biennale in Korea. Yeesookyung is currently living and working in Seoul, Korea, and in 2011 she will have her solo show at Almine Rech Gallery in Brussels, Belgium.

3. Inhwan Oh The Korean born artist Inhwan Oh is a conceptual artist presenting various experimental works and projects combining installation with conceptual art since the middle of 90s. He has had several solo exhibitions at Artsonje Center, Seoul (2009), Mills College Art Museum, Oakland (2002), Project Space Sarubia, Seoul (2002), Artspace Visual Arts Centre, Sydney (2002), Parlour Projects, New York (2001). He has participated in group shows such as CU Art Museum, Boulder (2011), Aichi Triennale 2010, Giorgio Cini Foundation, Venice, National Museum of Contemporary Art Korea(2009), Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes(2008), Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Santiago, Santiago(2007), Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (2005).
