Site & Sound - Soundimage Biennale VII

The Japanese performer Junko Wada, now living in Berlin, will lead the public - while dancing - through the exhibition, which is presenting works by the three international sound and installation artists Hans Peter Kuhn, Terry Fox and Akio Suzuki.

Hans Peter Kuhn is best known for his large scale outdoor sound and light installations or his long lasting collaboration with the American threatre director Robert Wilson. Terry Fox har won international recognition for his installations, performances, sculptures and drawings based on the labyrinth of Chartres Cathedral and for his collaboration with the legendary Joseph Beuys. Apart from this, Terry Fox received wide acclaim for the large retrospective exhibition last year at the Kunsthalle Fredericianum in Kassel. Since the end of the 60s Akio Suzuki has been exhibiting his works and performing in Japan and Europe.

SoundImages VII - Site & Sound is the seventh in the series of SoundImage exhibitions, a concept which the Museum of Contemporary Art has been presenting every second year since its inauguration in 1991. These exhibitions focus on Scandinavian and international artists working in the borderland between music and visual arts. Their aim is also encouraging collaboration between Danish and foreign artists and art centres/museums working with hybrid forms and new media, as well as art crossing the classic artistic genres.

SoundImages VII - Site & Sound has received financial support from the Danish Art Agency, Danish Art Council, Goethe-Institut Kopenhagen and Roskilde City Council The exhibition is also part of the exchange project Urban Art Stories, which in 2004/05 will connect Berlin, Malmø and Copenhagen through 29 exciting theatre, art, music, film and design projects in the three cities.
