This is the first comprehensive museum exhibition by Paris-based, American artist Sturtevant. Best known for her replication of works by such artists Marcel Duchamp, Jasper Johns, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, and Andy Warhol, Sturtevant proposes a provocative expanded definition of originality, authorship, the role of the creator, and the future meaning and purpose of art.

The exhibition was originally organized by Udo Kittlemann and Mario Kramer for the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

A set of catalogues designed by the artist accompany the exhibition.

Sturtevant was a visiting professor for the Visual Arts Program at MIT in 2002-03
