The solo exhibition 'The Green Light' provides a comprehensive overview of the current film works by artist Lola Gonzàlez. This is the first presentation of her work in Germany.

By developing enigmatic plots and a challenging visual language, Lola Gonzàlez’ films and performances chart a metaphorical image of society while also simultaneously exploring the boundaries of collective experience. The films are sustained by the high degree of authenticity the protagonists possess, whereby they are for the most part played by the artist’s friends or acquaintances.

By eschewing any communication through dialog, the artist gives rise to emotional images of shared experience shaped by an interplay of gestures, touch and a basal understanding of being-together.Gonzàlez has a special interest in utilizing landscape as an aesthetic instrument in order to convey a complex image of our collective modes of experiencing that may be read on a multitude of levels. The group and the individual always form the basis of her artistic reflection.

Lola Gonzàlez lives and works in Paris. In 2016 she was awarded the Prix Meurice pour l’art contemporain.
