This major exhibition brings together works by two key figures of Modernist photography – Tina Modotti (1896-1942) and Edward Weston (1886-1958) for the first time in Britain. Featuring over 150 images, mostly vintage, many rare, and some never-before-exhibited photographs, it features their work in the 1920s when the two photographers worked together in post-Revolutionary Mexico.

Modotti’s dramatic life as an actress as well as a revolutionary has often eclipsed her work as a photographer and despite her premature death in 1942, her poignant still-lifes, Modernist images and revolutionary icons, confirms her importance as a photographer. In contrast, Edward Weston is often acknowledged as a ‘master’ of 20th-century photography. His legacy has influenced photographers around the world for over 70 years.

This compelling and fascinating exhibition is a rare chance to see the work of two of the most significant twentieth century photographers.
