The Fly Utopia! exhibition opens January 31st and continues beyond the festival until February 15th. The exhibition gathers utopian and dystopian designs of economic concepts in the Fly Utopia! market. Other projects articulate positions on lost social utopia and present ideas for a better and a different future.
The main focus of the screening program is the presentation of selected video works submitted for the award competition in the ‘Image’ category. These works will be shown in thematic blocks over the period of the festival as projection in the Theatersaal as well as in a video-on-demand system in the Media Lounge. Additionally there is a series of compilation programs and feature films that especially look into the festival theme Fly Utopia!
Screen-based works were derived from the call for submissions. The range of works shown, some net-based, some presented on CD- or DVD-roms, continues to diversify while the computer's potential as a design and display media increases.
