Weng Fen / Fataurbana

Weng Fen (Weng Peijun) was born on an island Hainan in the southern China. He lives and works in Beijing and his family town Haikou where he works as a lecturer at the Haikou University in the Department of Art. The artistic creativity of Weng Fen includes the videos, some installations made of thousands eggshells and huge photographs. The exhibition shows 30 photographs originated from a few series, created between 2002 and 2006 (among others Sitting on the Wall, Bird's Eye View, Staring at the Sea, Staring at the Lake and Enter the River). A photographic world of Weng Fen strikes with the clear colors and astonishing order, it is a world of the modernistic utopia frozen in time and space, which similarly to the figures depicted on the pictures frozen in the artist’s camera.
