press release

Cordially Invited is an exhibition as well as a series of performative and discursive events around the themes of hospitality vis-‡-vis a topic of major political and ethical consequence: migration.

Hospitality and migration In the exhibition, over twenty international artists examine the meanings of hospitality when invited in a "cordial" manner ñ politely but conditionally. Both poetically and literally, the project opens up a transitory space that offers possibilities to experiment with the gap between extending a gesture of hospitality on one hand, and on the other, the limits of implementing it into social reality. Employing the language of current aesthetic practices the project explores ways of, if at all possible, disabling the asymmetry in the relationship between the one who invites and the invitee.

21 international artists On show is work from: Francis Alˇs, Academic Training Group, Joûe Baröi, Otto Berchem, Monica Bonvicini, Mona Hatoum, J˙lius Koller, JirÌ Kovanda, Denisa Lehock·, Mapping Worlds, Nomads & Residents, Roman Ond·k, Boris Ondreicka, Amalia Pica, Wilfredo Prieto GarcÌa, Marko Raat, Mindaugas Ratavicius/Giedrius Kumetaitis, Jeroen de Rijke/Willem de Rooij, Ene-Liis Semper, Monika Sosnowska, en Felix Gonzalez-Torres; en is samengesteld door Gerardo Mosquera en Maria Hlavajova.
