press release

Wilfredo Prieto (Sancti-Spiritus, Cuba, 1978) will develop a site-specific project for the Laboratorio 987 of MUSAC, continuing the development of his work principally based on installation. In this show, Mucho ruido y pocas nueces II (Much ado about nothing), he takes on the title of a project that was started in 2003 in Cuba, wherein he intended the spectator to reflect on the expected and, in this case, the unexpected within the exhibition space related to the world of contemporary art and current artistic gear.

Laboratorio 987, a project room for site-specific artistic projects is an adjoining space that functions independently from the general program of the museum. The first artist to exhibit in this space was Silvia Prada (Ponferrada, Spain, 1969) with the site-specific project Hot or Not, which ran from April to May 2005. This project was followed by a video exhibition by Fikret Atay (Batman, Turkey, 1976) under the title Sonidos Lejanos/Distant Sounds. Abigail Lazkoz (Bilbao, Spain,1972) created a site-specific project for the Laboratorio 987 from September to October entitled, Esconde la mano.

Tania Pardo (Madrid, Spain, 1976) is the curator and program coordinator of Laboratorio 987 for the years 2005-2006.
