press release

Produced at Eyebeam: Works In Process, is part one of two exhibitions featuring recent work from Eyebeam's 2004 Artists in Residence, Moving Image Studio Commission, Co-op and Fellowship Programs. Like software released in versions, many of the installations in Works in Process are iterative and participatory, changing for and by the user. This exhibition also embodies the atelier-oriented approach or process over projects cultivated in Eyebeam’s studios. Work in the exhibition explores interactive global streaming, the architecture of democracy, body modification and corporate branding, aerial surveillance and gaming, pirate broadcasting, and the impact of technology on highly personal expression.

In Works In Process the installation represents an interface of exchange, a means to document process in real time as well as means to accumulate feedback for the next iteration. Each exhibition, being context-specific, may be distributed in distinct or simultaneous channels, gallery presentation being only one option. Public programs including artist tours and talks, urban gaming forum, and a tactical media panel discussion, will run from January 26 through March 3.
