Onodera complicates and enriches her art by making presence and absence the dominating tension that runs through all her work.
The transvest series does not easily divulge its full power to please and provoke until after our eyes have adjusted to the darkness and our minds have started to churn. The shaped figures are selected for their evocative capacity, intended to give us a sense of 'déjà-vu.'
