THE 2ND CONTEMPORARY EUROPEAN PAINTING AWARD OF THE FRISSIRAS MUSEUM The Frissiras Museum is presenting the 2nd Contemporary European Painting Award, aiming to promote contemporary painting that focuses on the depiction of the human figure and to support young artists in Greece and in the rest of Europe.

The 6 members of the Jury of the 2nd Award, all well-known artists and art historians are: Valerio Adami, Artist and President of the European Foundation for Drawing, Pat Andrea, Professor at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, Chronis Botsoglou, Dean of the Athens School of Fine Arts, Philippe Dagen, Professor of art history at the University of Sorbonne, Jurgen Schilling, Art historian and Vlassis Frissiras, President of the Frissiras Museum. Each member proposed 3 artists.

The proposed artists are: PABLO ALONSO, KATI BARATH, NORBERT BISKY, JULIANO KAGLIS, ULRICH LAMSFUSS, FREDERIC LEGLISE, FEDERICO LOMBARDO, FREDERIQUE LOUTZ, DIETER MAMMEL, AXEL PAHLAVI, ZACHARIAS PAPANTONIOU, STEPHANE PENCREAC'H, KOSTAS PLESSAS, MANTALINA PSOMA, LEOPOLD RABUS, BERNARDI ROIG, KONSTANTINOS VAVILOUSSAKIS, MYRTIA SOPHIA WEFELMEIER.

The Jury unanimously decided the Prize (20.000 euros) to be awarded ex aequo to Frederique LOUTZ and Ulrich LAMSFUSS.

The Prize was officially awarded at the opening night of the exhibition that presents paintings by the 18 artists. The exhibition was inaugurated at the premises of the Frissiras Museum on the 14th December 2005 by His Excellence the Ambassador of France, Mr. Bruno Delaye and the Government Spokesman, Mr. Thodoris Roussopoulos. The exhibition, which is accomplished by a bilingual catalogue giving information on the artists and their works, will be also shown in art spaces in Paris and Italy.
