Ben Patterson (Benjamin Patterson, b. 1934, Pittsburgh/Pennsylvania; d. 2016, Wiesbaden/Germany) who lived and worked in Wiesbaden and New York, was a musician, artist and co-founder of the Fluxus movement. He made ironic objects, collages, performances, concerts with improvised electro-acoustic music. Since 1960, Patterson had a variety of exhibitions, options, performances etc. in museums and galleries throughout the world. With George Maciunas and Emmett Williams he organized the Fluxus Festival of Latest Contemporary Music in the Museum Wiesbaden 1962. In 2012 he was honoured with a big retrospective at the Nassau Kunstverein Wiesbaden, which was previously seen in parts at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. Ben Patterson studied bass, composition and conducting at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
