DUVE Berlin is pleased to present the group exhibition Burn, Baby, Burn!. Burn, Baby, Burn! is a homage to the road trip and the venturous search for the unknown. The exhibition embodies the rebellious confidence of a hitchhikers odyssey within the 'white cube' of the gallery. An unpredictable journey unfolds in the exhibition space: swerving in the magic of lost highways, veering from one world into another, day dreaming in a hypnotic trance, or voyaging into the depths of oneself. Clues to a destination are obtuse, at times leading to dead-ends.

This group of work illustrates the explorers mind, and it's illicit attitude towards whatever crosses its path. The road is a fertile ground upon which to grow 'desiring machines' on the hunt for undiscovered worlds. Every landmark can be hijacked, any signage stolen; the whole world can burst in flames as long as there is a match available. Though as with any counter-movements rebellious outreach, backlashes follow on swiftly, from the convoluted circuits of established trades or the enemy within.

The exhibition is to be viewed through the term 'voyage' as a prism. A journey within a journey, an endless reflection on the journey itself, a pathway into infinity.

Accompanying the exhibition will be a screening of artist films that investigate notions of a road trip and dislocation, as well as journeys into the unknown and undiscovered territories.

Burn Baby Burn opens December 11, 2009 and will be on view at DUVE Berlin (Invalidenstr. 90, 10115 Berlin) through January 30, 2010 (the gallery is closed for Christmas and New Years from 23rd Dec. - 4th Jan.).
